Dr. Dennis Ahrholdt's dissertation "Erfolgsfaktoren einer E-Commerce-Website – Empirische Identifikation vertrauensfördernder Signale im Internet-Einzelhandel" was awarded with the BÜROPA-Prize 2011 of the Donors' Association for German Science.
The award, which is assigned by the Büropa foundation to promote retail research, honours a habilitation or dissertation or another publication of the retail research whose content is important for the office organisation. The award includes a prize money of 5000€.
Dr. Ahrholdt considers in particular the question which signals of an e-commerce website create the consumer's trust in an information economic sense in order to positively influence the consumer's intention to buy something. For this purpose a diverse scientifically sound structural equation model is developed from a multidisciplinary point of view. This model is then analysed on the basis of a wide-ranging empirical data record consisting of consumers' opinions about virtually existing online retailers.
The diverse results are not only remarkable for a scientific point of view. They are also highly relevant for actors in e-commerce as a decision-making tool for investments in the building up or optimal design of an online presence.
- Prize for best doctoral dissertation 2009 from School of Business , Economics and Social Sciences, University of Hamburg
