Guest Lecture by the Otto Group in the "Accounting Basics" Module

As part of the "Accounting Basics" module, Stefan Reimann and Dennis Karzek from the Otto Group delivered a guest lecture that, for many students.

The lecture provided a comprehensive overview of the Otto Group's operational and strategic steering approaches, with particular attention to the steering mechanisms and value driver frameworks tailored to the organisation's diverse business units. The speakers further addressed how management accountants can take on a genuinely strategic role, operating at the intersection of macroeconomic developments, competitive dynamics, and internal stakeholder expectations.

The lecture underscored that impactful management accounting today extends well beyond traditional number crunching. Strategic competencies have become indispensable for driving sustained performance improvements and creating lasting value.
