Teaching Programms
The health care market is one of the most important growth industries and largest employers in our economy. Nearly one in nine workers in Germany works in an area related to health care. Considering the increasing autonomy of market players and increasing competition, there is an ever-growing demand for competent managers who have economic expertise in the field of health care. The health care market offers a wide range of opportunities for graduates in industrial fields (e.g., medical technology, biotechnology, and the pharmaceutical industry) and service sectors (e.g., health insurance companies, hospitals, and medical networks) as well as in consultancy companies and international organizations.
Given the institutional complexity of the health care market, managers who plan to work in a variety of sectors need to have highly specialized knowledge of the subject. Students already acquire important general methodological knowledge in the performance-oriented business administration disciplines (e.g., marketing, managerial accounting, and finance). The courses offered in Health Care Management are designed to familiarize students with the central issues and aspects of health care management as a field of application within business administration. Students take a practical approach to learning theoretical and methodological principles so that they can prepare independent analyses and assessments that can be used as a basis for management decisions in various areas of the health care market. This makes them attractive to prospective employers and opens up opportunities for management positions with companies in the health care market and in consulting.
One of our priorities is to connect teaching and research. Dedicated students doing a bachelor's or master's thesis can collaborate on research projects. We have a wide range of contacts in the field which can be helpful when you are looking for internships or starting out in your career.
