Blood donation
Your blood donation at the German Red Cross
A large proportion of German citizens are dependent on the blood of others at least once in their lives. Statistically, most blood donations are required for the treatment of cancer patients. In serious accidents it may happen that due to certain internal injuries at least ten blood units per accident victim must be available (German Red Cross).
Even a perfect medical care system cannot work properly without blood donations in the case of serious injuries and life-threatening diseases. Although one blood donation can save up to three lives, only about 3% of the population donates blood (BZgA).
Blood donors are very unique people because they show social commitment and assume responsibility with their blood donation. Learn more about blood donation or find the next blood donation appointment in your area.
