At the research seminar on Finance, Insurance, and Accounting at the University of Hamburg Business School, Sasan Mansouri from the University of Groningen presented his research on the role of artificial intelligence in fundraising campaigns.
Drawing on both large-scale empirical data and experimental evidence, Sasan Mansouri examines the conditions under which AI-driven campaigns lead to higher success rates. The findings indicate that such campaigns can significantly improve outcomes, provided that potential donors remain unaware of the AI's involvement in crafting the campaigns. Once donors become aware of this involvement, the effect reverses, and campaign performance declines.
These results point to a notable AI aversion among potential donors and raised substantive questions among seminar participants regarding the role of trust in the effective deployment of artificial intelligence.
