From July 31st to August 2nd, the Institute of Marketing at the University of Hamburg, with the support of the Exist-Program, played host to the 36th Global Research Conference on Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
For nearly four decades, this academic research conference has served as a catalyst, nurturing high-quality scholarly thinking and research at the crossroads of marketing and entrepreneurship. The conference consistently attracts esteemed researchers from across the globe, who converge to unveil fresh insights and concepts related to marketing within entrepreneur-led enterprises and nascent ventures. It also delves into teaching innovations and explores the ramifications of cutting-edge technologies on the realms of marketing and entrepreneurship.
In Hamburg, 50 participants from 14 countries spanning six continents shared their most recent research findings on the intersection of marketing and entrepreneurship. The primary focus was on this year's conference theme, "Technology and Transformative Change." The conference commenced with a keynote address delivered by Jan Bremer of Organauts, a promising spin-off from the University of Hamburg, and Heiko Milde from IFB-Innovationsstarter GmbH. This keynote marked the inauguration of the two-day conference, which was preceded by a doctoral consortium where Ph.D. students received constructive feedback on their dissertation projects.
In addition to its emphasis on presentations and discussions, the event provided ample opportunities for informal gatherings. These included a conference reception aboard the "Frau Hedi" boat on the river Elbe and a conference dinner at the "Spanische Treppe" adjacent to Lake Alster.
"We experienced an exceptional event, striking a perfect balance between work and fun. The University of Hamburg excelled in hosting us all, setting a high standard for future conferences," remarked Prof. Dr. Fabian Eggers, in conjunction with Dr. Rouven Seifert and Prof. Dr. Michel Clement, the co-hosts of the conference.
Looking ahead, the 37th Global Research Conference on Marketing and Entrepreneurship is slated to take place near New York City, at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, next year.
