11 September 2014, by Giselind Werner
On September 27, 2013 the Future Transport Night 2013 took place at the International Maritime Museum and at the Kühne Logistics University at the Hafencity of Hamburg.

The opening ceremony held a first highlight of the evening: Peter Wenzel, an IWI-student, was awarded the Young Professionals’ Award Logistics for his master thesis about transport optimization of road freight traffic.
In addition to numerous exhibitors from industry, the TUHH, the HAW, the Fraunhofer Institute and the University of Applied Sciences Wedel, the Institute of Information Systems acted dignified for the University of Hamburg at this "Science Night". Among other things, the IWI presented a stand consisting of posters on the subjects inter-terminal transportation, capacity restricted transport corridors and bike sharing as well as a simulation study for bike sharing in Boston.
Many interested visitors from industry and research, but also curious families and school groups who were eager for knowledge visited our stand at the International Maritime Museum and were introduced by our staff and students into the subject areas of maritime logistics and bike sharing.
But also the staff and students of the Institute profited a lot from this exchange as there was much to discover at the other FUTRA-stands on the one hand. On the other the whole evening offered an excellent opportunity to present research results to a wider audience and also achieve greater publicity for our IWI.
In this context we would like to give a warm thanks to the undergraduate Philip Becker and the doctoral graduate Yingjie Fan for their comprehensive involvement. In connection to interesting conversations about company matters Dr. Xiaoning Shi led a high-ranking Chinese delegation through the FUTRA exhibition.
Another highlight and a closing point of the evening was a lecture on "Sudoku-Applications in the Port" held by the Executive Director of the IWI, Prof. Dr. Stefan Voss on the main staircase of the museum.
