The study “Does Artificial Intelligence Elevate or Undermine Strategic Distinctiveness? An Empirical Investigation of AI in Strategizing” was presented by Prof. Dr. Yannik Gehrke at the 4th session of the research seminar ‘AI/Digitalization’ at the University of Groningen.
The study is being carried out together with a team of national and international co-authors and deals with the question as to whether the use of artificial intelligence in strategic decision-making leads to more similar or different decision-making outcomes compared to competitors. This question is controversial discussed, as the use of artificial intelligence can potentially provide new and valuable insights, but at the same time is based on historical data and could therefore tend to support the replication of previous strategies instead of crafting new distinctive strategies. The presentation of the study at the seminar helped to collect valuable feedback and to discuss ideas for the further development of the study.
