Thank you for your interest in writing a thesis (Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis) at the Chair of Statistics. To make the registration process clearer and simpler, we have compiled important information and templates for you.
Potential Thesis Topics
Are you looking for an interesting topic? We have prepared a list of current suggested topics, which is regularly updated.
Of course, your own topic suggestions are always welcome. Please submit these directly via the registration form (you must be logged in with your @studium.uni-hamburg.de account to fill out the form). You will receive feedback within a few days.

Process After Topic Allocation
- Discussion of the topic and individual literature recommendations.
- Independent study of the topic.
- Preparation of an exposé or extended abstract, followed by feedback from the supervisor.
- Scheduled meetings with your supervisor.
- Your supervisors are always available should you encounter difficulties.
FAQs
- Students are responsible for their own thesis registration.
- You can begin working on your thesis at any time.
- Bachelor’s theses should typically be around 30 pages, and Master’s theses should have around 60 pages of main content (excluding appendices and lists of tables, symbols, figures, references, etc.).
- Generally, the use of AI to assist in writing is not prohibited. If you use AI, please inform your supervisor.
