Brief Bio
Sören Spiegel (he) is a Doctoral Researcher in the Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence group and the Institute for Applied Medical Informatics at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).
Prior, he obtained his B.Sc. in Business Informatics from the Hamburg School of Business Administration in cooperation with the market research company Ipsos, where he subsequently worked as a Data Scientist for two years. During his bachelor's thesis he developed an interest in natural language processing by training neural networks to support the coding of open-ended survey responses. In 2024, he completed his M.Sc. in Information Systems at the University of Hamburg. As part of his thesis, he explored and trained large language models to extract medical information from clinical notes and developed a prototype to support premedication in anesthesia at the UKE. He began working at the Institute for Applied Medical Informatics at the start of his master's studies.
