Dark Sides of Social Media
25 July 2015, by Timo Mandler
Our research group covers various current issues of social media marketing, e.g. the dark sides of social media, which have some impact on marketing practice. This means a bearable amount of stress caused by social media usage up to health risks. The filter bubble effect is of particular relevance, as a message’s sender wants to be heard. Last but not least, it has to be discussed how we would like our data to be handled and how we perceive content and interactions in social media from a user’s, a firm’s, and a brand’s point of view.
The Alumni Circle of the University of Hamburg discusses the various perspectives summarized for the first time by our research group on July 1. If you missed the event please make a note of the „long night of science“ on November 7. Our research group will introduce their work at the University of Hamburg and at the Kühne Logistics University (KLU). The lecture „Dark Sides of Social Media“ will be part of the night’s course catalogue.
