Imke Grashoff and Thomas Mayer, both doctoral candidates under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jan Recker, Nucleus Professor for Information Systems and Digital Innovation at the University of Hamburg, participated in the prestigious 45th International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in Bangkok, Thailand. Renowned as the leading global conference in the field of Information Systems, the ICIS brought together approximately 1,700 researchers from nearly 50 countries from December 15–18, 2024.
Both Imke and Thomas showcased their innovative research on generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) to the field’s most renowned international scholars. AI-related topics, particularly in business and societal contexts, emerged as one of the conference’s most widely debated themes, offering diverse sessions, workshops, and panels that fostered valuable discussions between academics and practitioners.
Imke Grashoff participated in a full-day "Paper Development Workshop" on her research focus, Sensemaking in AI, and presented her Research-in-Progress paper, "Winning the GenAI Race: Understanding Organizational Prerequisites for GenAI Adoption and Value Creation," co-authored with Theresa Bockelmann.
Thomas Mayer presented the Research-in-Progress paper "Challenges, Success Factors, and Potential Benefits of GenAI Development: Insights from an Ongoing Case Study at a German Automotive Manufacturer," which he co-authored with Imke Grashoff and Jan Recker as part of his doctoral studies.
