Jan Recker co-authored a forum article to discuss why digital transformation research remains fragmented across Operations Management (OM) and Information Systems (IS). While both fields study how digital technologies reshape organizations, they often explain these changes through different causal vocabularies: IS tends to focus on how digital systems generate and structure decisions, whereas OM focuses on how operational processes translate decisions into performance outcomes.

The paper entitled "Bridging Fragmentation in Digital Transformation Research: Building an Interface between Operations Management and Information Systems" is forthcoming in the Journal of Operations Management and co-authored by Sunil Tiwri, Ashish Kumar Jha, Jan Fransoo, Jason Thatcher, Karthik Ramachandran, Jan Recker, Gregory Heim, and Merieke Stevens.
