The Escuela de Ingeniería Industrial of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso has given a warm welcome to the IWI's external phd students Ahmet Cürebal and Merve Çolak, who visit the PUCV to share their knowledge with the chilean academic community!
Ahmet and Merve are visiting the school during October 2025, under the guidance of faculty member Javier Maturana. During their visit, they participate in the research seminar "Collaborative Logistics in the Agri-Food Industry," share experiences with students from the school's doctoral program in Industrial Engineering, and conduct the following workshops aimed at advanced undergraduate students and master's students in Industrial Engineering:
Ahmet Cürebal: Metaheuristics - Exploration of advanced optimization techniques and their application to complex industrial engineering problems.
Merve Çolak: Reinforcement Learning - Introduction to the fundamentals and applications of reinforcement learning in automated decision-making.
This visit is part tying a closer international collaboration network between PUCV and the University of Hamburg, allowing students to access cutting-edge knowledge in optimization and applied artificial intelligence.
Funding: Academic Cooperation Support Program of the General Directorate of International Affairs (DGAI) at PUCV.
