Welcome to our course „The Entrepreneurial Firm“!
This course consists of two parts and will be taught in English:
- lecture and
- tutorials.
In the lectures, we discuss several topics on organizational structures and processes. In detail, we are addressing the following topics:
- Market vs. Organization
(Trade-offs between markets and organizations, organizational theories: classical, neoclassical, modern) - Organizational Strategies
(What is Strategy, Competitive and Sustainable Strategy, Resource View, Structure vs Strategy, Star Model) - Drivers of Organizational Design
(Technology, Environment, Motivation & Theories) - Challenges in Organizational Design
(Differentiation and Integration, Centralization and Decentralization,
Standardization and Flexibility, Mechanic and Organic Structures) - Organizational Designs
(Modularization, Interfaces, and Interdependencies; Traditional Organizational Forms,
Profit Center and Holding Organizations; Process, Matrix, and Network/Virtual Organizations) - Leadership and Organizational Culture
- Organizational Dynamics
- Evolution from Start-up & Growth Phase to large international Enterprise.
In the tutorials, we are discussing some interesting case studies and apply the concepts learned.
