Pre-conference as part of EMAC 2019 in Hamburg
30 May 2019
In the run-up to this year's EMAC Conference, the DFG research group organised its own Pre-Conference. The event was entitled "Understanding customers in an automated marketing environment" and took place with 35 participants at the Kühne Logistics University (KLU) in Hamburg.
In addition to the members of the research group, we welcomed high-ranking researchers from all over the world. First, Michael Haenlein (ESCP Europe) introduced the event with an excellent overview of "Artificial Intelligence in Marketing". Afterwards, our International Fellows Marnik Dekimpe (Tilburg University), Vithala Rao (Cornell University), Klaus Wertenbroch (INSEAD) and Peter Gloor (MIT) presented different perspectives on the overarching topic - for example on effects in the area of retailing, consumer behaviour, social networks or smart devices.
Finally, Michel Clement (Hamburg) and Detlef Schoder (Cologne) as members from our research group presented current research ideas in the context of automated marketing environment. In the evening, we rounded off the day with a relaxed exchange within the framework of a cooking event.
The purpose of the pre-conference was to prepare a mini-conference organized by the DFG research group on the same topic. This is expected to take place in July 2020.
