“Winning the Attention Race”: DFG Research Unit Welcomes Ryan Dew (Wharton)

End of 2021, the DFG research unit was happy to welcome Ryan Dew (Wharton) as a guest speaker. Ryan presented a timely research project titled Winning the Attention Race: Analyzing Video Popularity and Content Evolution on TikTok (together with Zijun Tian and Raghu Iyengar). Additionally, Amos Schikowsky and Jasper Schwenzow (both from Universität Hamburg) presented their work on machine learning-based novelty and typicality classification of car designs. Jochen Hartmann (University of Groningen) presented joint work with Anouk Bergner and Christian Hildebrand (both from the University of St. Gallen), titled DeepMind: A Deep Learning Approach to Mind Perception and Consumer-Smart Object Relationships. All three talks sparked engaging discussions among the workshop participants.
The next DFG workshop will take place on Friday, January 21.
