13 theses on the future viability of the newspaper (as of November 17, 2015):
It doesn't look particularly good for printed newspapers - at least according to Prof. Dr. Michel Clement and Prof. Dr. Christian-Mathias Wellbrock from the University of Hamburg. The two researchers have looked at the media market and its development and come to the conclusion that "quality printed newspapers will be a niche product within ten years - they won't die out, but there will be massive consolidation". The two scientists have summarized their considerations in 13 theses, which you can view here (german).
