We regularly offer topics for bachelor and master theses.
Before you apply for a topic, please also read our guidelines (german) (as of September 2020) for the preparation of written work. Also note the thesis template (german).

Application for bachelor theses
BWL and HWI students in the bachelor’s program must apply centrally using a registration form for the professorships of Clement, Gedenk, Heitmann, and Sattler (Marketing). There is a two-week application period in summer and winter. The registration form and all important information about the application process can be found here.
If the last exam is taken in the summer semester, the application period begins at the end of April, and the latest registration date is October 31.
If the last exam is taken in the winter semester, the application period begins at the end of October, and the latest registration date is April 30.

We have a central allocation of the master's thesis in the marketing area. Information on the application can be found below.
Or you can send us an mail of application, including you curriculum vitae and and an overview of study achievements so far, including grading. In order to successfully plan of your master thesis, we advise you to contact us at an early stage and plan the length of the enclosure accordingly.

Central application for a master's thesis in marketing
Participating professorships:

- Professorship of Marketing & Pricing (Prof. Gedenk)
- SVI Endowed Chair of Dialog Marketing (Prof. Peters)
Application deadlines: 30.01., 30.04., 30.07., 30.10.

- desired start date of the master thesis
Please send your application documents to: mkt-ma.bwl"AT"uni-hamburg.de. Incomplete applications are not taken into account.
Allocation: Professorships are allocated according to preferences and capacities. It is highly likely that you will be assigned a master's thesis if
- you study marketing as a major and
- your preference list includes all 5 professorships of the marketing area.
Further applications will be considered, provided that free capacities are available.
It is not possible to change between professorships once they have been allocated.
Topic: After the central assignment you agree on a topic with the professorship to which you have been assigned. In the case of the central master's thesis assignment, it may happen that you are given a random topic by the supervising professorship. If you have specific topic ideas, please contact one of the professors directly and do not apply for the central assignment.
Deadline for enrollment: Your master thesis must be registered at the latest within 3 months after allocation.
