Dr. Tobias Moll was recently named “Eimsbüttler of the year” for his social commitment.
Dr. Moll, who completed his doctoral studies with summa cum laude at the faculty in December 2021, carried out research on New Work and spirituality in the workplace under Prof. Dr. Dorothea Alewell. An important aspect of New Work and spirituality at the workplace is that which gives life meaning—for example, contributing to the common good in the City of Hamburg.
And Tobias Moll practices what he preaches : for the past several years, he has worked with the voluntary fire department in Hamburg.
Dr. Moll has been based at the station in Eimsbüttel for 18 years and, during that time, has risen to the position of fire chief. In this role, Moll is responsible for firefighting and rescue operations and, thus, the lives and safety of the volunteer firefighters under his command. Alongside his commitment to the fire service, he also volunteers as a judo trainer and previously volunteered with an integration group.
Since the beginning of the year, Dr. Tobias Moll has worked closely with the City of Hamburg and its citizens, having joined the City’s management trainee program after successfully completing his doctoral studies.
One of his upcoming trainee positions will be as an advisor to the police academy, where he will train management staff as a City of Hamburg employee—an activity that will seamlessly follow on from his teaching and research activities under the Professorship for Human Resources in our faculty.
