Governance and administration
As stipulated in Hamburg’s Higher Education Act (2001), decision-making authority in the Faculty primarily lies with the Management Board and the Faculty Council.
Management Board (Dekanat)
The board is responsible for the general management and direction of the Faculty, including the allocation of the budget. The election of members and the role of the board are determined under the Higher Education Act (HmbHG, §6, §90).

Faculty Council
Chaired by the Dean, the Faculty Council decides on the organization of the Faculty, on the establishment of study programs, and on exam regulations. It also elects the Dean and Vice Deans, establishes search committees, and approves candidates for professorial positions. It advises the Management Board on the strategic development of the Faculty. The council is made up of representatives of the key stakeholder groups: 10 professors, three academic staff (i.e., doctoral and post-doctoral research associates), three administrative staff, and three students. Members are elected by their respective status groups.
The current council has been elected for the term 1.10.2023 to 30.9.2025.

The functions and responsibilities of the Faculty's committees, boards and representatives are determined under the Higher Education Act (HmbHG).
Programs Committee
The Programs Committee (formally known as Committee for Teaching, Studies and Academic Reform (ALST-BWL)) advises the Faculty Council on all matters relating to teaching and program structure. It includes representatives from the key status groups (professors, academic and administrative staff, students). Students and professors have an equal number of votes.

Quality Committee
The Quality Committee (formally known as the Qualitätszirkel) was established to ensure the quality of the Bachelor and Master in Business Administration. Representatives from the key status groups (professors, academic and administrative staff, students) are appointed by the Management Board.

The Doctoral Board consists of four professors, one academic staff member with a doctoral degree, and one doctoral researcher. It is elected every three years.

Student representative committees
The committees represent the interests of students in the different study programs. In accordance with the Higher Education Act, student representatives sit on Faculty boards.
Advisory Board
The Advisory Board, which is made up of representatives from business, politics, academia, and society, offers the School external advice on strategic decisions.
Administration
The Faculty's Central Administrative Office (see Faculty Staff) works closely with the Management Board, and is responsible for coordinating the Faculty’s financial and human resources. It liaises with the University's central administration.
The Academic Office fields all study program related questions.
