Last Friday, the Hamburg Finance Forum 2025, the annual conference of the Hamburg Financial Research Center (HFRC), was held at the Patriotic Society of 1765. Prof. Dr. Drobetz, co-organizer of the event, serves as the Chair for Corporate Finance and Asset Management at the University of Hamburg Business School and is the founding director and scientific head of the independent, application-oriented research institute HFRC.
Traditionally held at the start of the year, the Hamburg Finance Forum has established its reputation as a prominent platform for constructive dialogue among academics, policymakers, and financial industry leaders—expanding its influence well beyond Hamburg.
Under the theme “Connecting Minds to Foster Knowledge,” renowned scholars and institutional investors convened once again to discuss the emerging trends and pressing challenges in institutional capital investment. “As a hub for knowledge transfer, the Hamburg Finance Forum plays a crucial role in strengthening the local financial sector,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Drobetz in his opening address. The event proceeded with remarks from Dr. Andreas Dressel, Hamburg’s Finance Senator. A notable highlight was the keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, one of the world’s most distinguished climate researchers. Against the backdrop of U.S. President Trump's second term, discussions and presentations focused primarily on the future trajectory of financial and climate policy transformations.
