In the latest rankings by the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), the University of Hamburg Business School’s programs rank very highly in areas such as internationalization and support for first-year students. The Business School also ranks among the top institutions in terms of the number of doctoral degrees awarded per professorship.
The Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) has published its latest ranking of selected degree programs in Germany. The University of Hamburg is included in the ranking, as are its bachelor's and master's programs in business administration and industrial engineering at the University of Hamburg Business School.
The Business Administration program received top scores in international orientation (Master's) and in the number of doctorates per professor. It ranks among the top institutions with 0.9 doctorates per professorship. Also noteworthy is the Business Administration's very good overall ranking in the category "Support at the Start of Studies."
Additionally, the inter-university bachelor's program in industrial engineering (HWI) received high ratings in the categories "faculty supervision," "library," and "laboratories." The master's program received a perfect score in the "Internationalization @home" category. This reflects the proportion of courses taught in foreign languages and modules or courses focused on intercultural competence.
“The ranking shows that our business school’s internationalization strategy is paying off. In our master program, we achieved a perfect score in all three categories—study abroad, ‘Internationalization @home,’ and student mobility—which we are very pleased about”, says Prof. Guido Voigt, program director of the Master of Science in Business Administration program.
Prof. Dorothea Alewell, program director of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program, comments: “Providing strong support to students is important to us. This is reflected in our position among the top performers in the area of ‘support at the start of studies.’”
Prof. Martin Spindler, program director of the Industrial Engineering & Management program (HWI), which is offered in cooperation with the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW) and the Helmut Schmidt University (HSU), says: “The program has become a benchmark in the industry in Hamburg and beyond, and offers students excellent conditions, as the ranking once again demonstrates.”
This year, the CHE university ranking covers the fields of law, business administration, economics, business studies, business informatics, industrial engineering, business psychology, business law, and social work. In total, around 35,000 students at 265 universities and universities of applied sciences (HAW) provided assessments of their study conditions.
