In the new podcast episode 18, a master’s student in the Industrial Engineering (HWI) program talks about his semester abroad in Sweden. Episode 19 focuses on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which addresses the diverse learning needs of students.

In the two new podcast episodes, Prof. Dorothea Alewell talks with her guests about their experiences during a semester abroad and diversity in learning.

Episode 18: Northern Lights at the North Cape – A Semester Abroad in Sweden 

After completing his bachelor’s degree in the Interuniversity Industrial Engineering Program (HWI), Dennis Braun decided to pursue a master’s degree and spent a semester abroad in Karlstad, Sweden. This experience not only helped him advance his career but, above all, allowed him to gain experience in managing his own life abroad. Among other things, he talks about living in a student dorm with other international exchange students and his impressions of Swedish culture.

Episode 19: Diversity in Learning, Too? – UDL in Practice 

Prof. Dorothea Alewell speaks with e-learning coordinator Dr. Anja Günther and bachelor’s students Anett Hahn and Sofya Danielyan about Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in practice, which takes into account the growing diversity of the student body. This concept for diversity in learning originated in the U.S. and aims to address the diverse learning needs of students, including those at the University of Hamburg Business School. It is based on three principles: multiple means of presenting information, diverse ways for students to express themselves, and multiple approaches to motivation and engagement.
