The graduates of the Industrial Engineering and Management program (HWI) celebrated the completion of their studies with family and guests at the Speisekontor in downtown Hamburg. Graduates of the Interuniversity Industrial Engineering and Management Program (HWI) celebrated their annual graduation ball with their guests at the Speisekontor in downtown Hamburg. The event was organized by Wi-Ing Aktiv, the student association and umbrella organization for industrial engineers in Hamburg.
After a festive dinner, Professors Martin Garbrecht and Oliver Baumann, both from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg), delivered inspiring speeches. Following that, Jasmin Spahr and Noah Lacorn, HWI bachelor’s degree graduates, hosted the highlight of the evening: the presentation of diplomas. One by one, the graduates were called to the stage and honored with a rose, a diploma, and a round of applause.
In addition, Professor Garbrecht accepted the challenge cup for the best teaching performance in the HWI program, the “Golden Duck.”

The evening culminated in a lively party with a DJ. Other students were also welcome to join the afterparty starting at 11 p.m. and celebrate along with everyone else. Paul Timmermann, one of the prom’s organizers, summed it up: “With over 120 guests and a big turnout at the afterparty, we had a successful event. Although there had been a few challenges leading up to it, such as the last-minute change of venue. Many thanks to everyone who attended—especially those who helped make the evening a success.”
Next year, the traditional graduation ball is also planned for a date yet to be determined in the first weeks of October.
