There are a range of opportunities to network with companies even during your studies. The majority of our students work as student employees in a company. Such jobs go beyond the costs of living in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, but also provide valuable practical experience that hones your professional profile. We post vacant individual positions issued by our corporate partners on our homepage to help students find jobs.
In addition, the Business School also hosts events that will bring students into direct contact with companies, such as recruiting events, guest lectures, the sponsoring of prizes such as in the field of ERS (Ethics, Responsibility, Sustainability) or through the Stellenwerk job fair, that takes place once a year on the University of Hamburg campus. But there is also space for your own business ideas: we offer courses, events, and individual advice on entrepreneurship and even our own Co-Working Office for those looking to found their own companies.

Corporate careers
Employers include corporations and groups of companies in the general economy, public institutions, or NGOs (nongovernmental organizations). Depending on their specialization, Business School alumni work, for example, in auditing companies, consultancies, in the consumer goods industry, in the healthcare or financial sector, media companies, capital goods production, logistics, or the maritime industry. Most frequently, our alumni are employed by renowned companies like Unilever, Tesa, Warner Bros., Deloitte, Boston Consulting Group, Airbus, or the HHLA (Hamburg Port and Logistics Authority). Also, a degree in business administration provides many opportunities to pursue your passion.
Startups and entrepreneurship
Do you want to implement your own ideas and found your own company? Graduates from the master’s program in business administration have the knowledge and skills required to establish a startup or become self-employed. The Business School and the University of Hamburg offer wide-reaching support in the form of advice, courses, and funding opportunities.

Success rates for master’s graduates
Our master’s graduates find work quickly: 74 percent find a position within 3 months, 89 percent within 6 months. Almost 60 percent of our graduates find themselves in positions of responsibility within 18 months of graduating. After graduating, 90 percent go on to work in the private sector, 10 percent aim to do a doctorate, either at the Business School, or at another renowned university.
Earning potential for business administration graduates
Salaries for master’s graduates depend on a range of factors. For example, the industry, location, and the general demand for the graduate’s specialization or specific knowledge and practical experience in the workplace. Salaries for graduates of a master’s of business administration in Germany usually start between €45,000 and €60,000. In comparison, the average salary in Germany was around €44,000 net in 2023.
