Applications are open now for bachelor and master students wishing to complete a Sustainability Certificate as part of their studies at the University of Hamburg. Through the certificate, students develop an interdisciplinary and holistic view toward sustainability that goes beyond business administration or any other specific field of study.
“Ethics, Responsibility, and Sustainability are an integral part of business and business education today,” says the University of Hamburg Business School Representative for Sustainability Prof. Simone Neumann. “We highly encourage our students to take part in the program, and help develop a broader understanding of how sustainability can be incorporated into their studies and their developing professional careers.”
The program includes a kick-off workshop, attendance of lectures, courses, workshops, and a learning journal. On successfully completing the program, students are awarded the Sustainability Certificate and six ECTS.
“Participants on the program report finding it interesting to see sustainability approaches outside their own discipline,” says Officer for Sustainable Development Education Dr. Simone Gumtau. “They appreciate practical experiences (such as the urban gardening) and real stories in combination with scientific analysis around sustainability challenges. They also comment positively on the combination of natural sciences with social sciences and are actively trying to reconcile all their learnings with their own political convictions and personal ambitions.”
The kick-off workshop takes place in early Summer Semester. Applications are open now. Places are limited.
