A parent-child room helps staff, visiting researchers and students at the School – and the university as a whole – to balance their careers with parenthood.
A parent-child room is now available in the building at Von Melle-Park 5, where parents can take their child to have some quiet time. This facility is open to all parents with children, regardless of their employment status at the University of Hamburg Business School or the University of Hamburg as a whole. The aim is to ease the burden on parents with children and improve the work-life balance. For babies and toddlers, a cot, a set of plates, spoons, washable bibs and a starter pack of nappies and wet wipes are provided. Everyone is responsible for replenishing supplies or providing for their own needs. Toys may be brought along.
Adults will find a desk by the window with a keyboard, as well as seating and a table for meetings. For heating up baby food, there is a kitchen in the adjoining room equipped with a microwave and kettle. A set of rules ensures that the room is used responsibly.
Anyone wishing to use the room can book it via Room Booking Indico. If you do not yet have access, please send an email to Pauline Perez (pauline.perez@uni-hamburg.de). Further information on booking can be found in the instructions.
Access to the parent-child room, the kitchen and the copy room is provided via a special transponder, which is available at the reception.
Room VMP5, 3rd floor, Room 3082 is accessible during the regular opening hours of the Von-Melle-Park 5 building:
Monday to Friday: 6.00 am to 9.30 pm
Saturday: 8.30 am to 6.00 pm

Further information is available here. If you have any questions regarding the use of the room, please contact Pauline Perez, pauline.perez"AT"uni-hamburg.de
