Young researchers funding 2025
The University of Hamburg Business School has approved funding for the promotion of young researchers for the calendar year 2025.
Funding can be provided for:
- participation in scientific (online) conferences at which you present,
- participation in (online) doctoral courses*,
- acquisition of data sets (if no comparable data is available via the licenses co-financed by the Business School),
- payment of transcription costs,
- proofreading of English-language texts.
(Post-)Doctoral researchers may apply for one or more grant per year, although the total maximum of 250€ cannot be exceeded for 2025. Total funding for the acquisition of data sets, transcription costs, or the proofreading of English-language texts is capped at 125€.
*) Funding for doctoral courses is available for:
- any doctoral student who:
- is following a doctorate within the structured doctoral program or who changed or registered for the structured doctoral program latest before he/she will have started the trip, and
- has a record of completing two courses from the Business School's course offerings.
- Postdocs (but not Junior Professors).
- a course that is not already offered within the graduate program.
- a course if it can be credited within the structured doctoral program; i. e.
- a course with proven academic achievements (e.g. own presentation, home report, seminar paper, written exam). Formulations such as "successfully completed" will not be recognized without specification of the final assessment completed. If an academic evaluation criteria in a course is optional, the academic achievement must be confirmed by the course instructor.
Applications may be submitted for the payment of travel expenses, accommodation costs and seminar fees. Please note the budget principle ("thrift principle") of the HmbRKG (Hamburgisches Reisekostengesetz (Hamburg Travel Expenses Act). Daily subsistence allowances cannot be paid out of these funds.

- Participants (who should go there?)
- Organiser/lecturer/conference name and location
- Subject
- Format (what services do the participants have to provide?/confirmation of own presentation)
- Date
- Costs (detailed proof of costs; invoicing via travel expenses).
Please note:
- It is currently not possible to finance research stays or external lecturers. If feasible, a separate call for proposals will be issued.
- It is not possible to invoice travel expenses for reimbursement out of these funds if research assistants are on leave without salary.
